NOT FRIENDS ONLY

That's right! From this point forward, no one will not be allowed to read this non-friends-only journal. Yep, non-friends-only, that means completely not not public. No one who isn't nobody will not be allowed to not read this journal ...

... and now there are so many double negatives that I don't think I understand what I wrote.

So, I've officially started my own movie reviewing website. I'm starting it out with reviewing all the movies I've watched for the 100 Movie Challenge, but I'll add others as I write them. I made it in iWeb, so its pretty simple. The Challenge is a blog that people can subscribe to through RSS if they want. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

Yeah, alright, overly excited title, but for good reason. I have decided to challenge myself to watch 100 movies in the 2008 calendar year so that I can maybe feel better about the amount of movies I watch. Plus it gives me something to work towards besides the whole degree and food and stuff. Those are boring anyway. So, yeah, 100 movies in 1 year. I can do it easy, so to make it harder I have a rule: I can't have seen any of them before. That's right, not just 100 movies, but 100 NEW movies (okay, maybe not new, but new for me). To sweeten the pot, I'm also going to post the movies I watch with reviews and everything on a website which I have yet to design, bit JUST YOU WAIT!

Alright, I'm gonna get started on that site before this weird wiredness wears off.

Totally falling asleep in Chem right now. I really have no interest in talking about molecular polarity and the kinetic model of water at 8 in the morning. Worst idea ever to have this class so early.

Got lots to do today though. I have to hit the ATM on the way back to Jason's room (we're dating by the way, since I don't think I've updated in forever). Then I've got to run by the Post Office to get a money order so I can order Roy's Christmas gift (which reminds me that I have to buy the other half like ... now). After that its back to the room to write a proposal for a paper for my Shakespeare class. I think its gonna be about how Hamlet is secretly in love with his mother, because Freud and the Oedipus Complex are far too much fun to let alone.

X-Files started filming on Monday! Totally doing like backflips in my head, since I certainly can't do them in real life. I really hope its a good movie. Got my hopes up a little too high for Golden Compass and wound up biting my tongue in the theater to keep from yelling at the screen. ::grumbles under breath:: Is it July yet??

Alright, I'm gonna go be all tired, and not absorbing a word my professor is saying.

A few updates about stuff and whatnot.

House is awesome. Beth sucks for getting me into this show too. Still awesome.

Peanut Butter gives you a stomach ache if you eat too much of it. Note to self: Get bread.

House of Mirth is an incredible movie for women to watch with friends. Men might not understand why the story is so heartbreaking, since it is about watching a woman's life slowly spiral out of control.

I'm probably transferring to UMass next year. I cant remember if I've updated on this already, but I really don't think I want to continue with the Physics major due to the fact that I hate math. More than likely I'll be majoring in Religious Studies (irony) with a minor in Behavioral Psychology. That or the other way around. Don't ask about the specifics unless you really want to know. Its long and involved. I like psychoanalyzing people, and think behavioral/criminal profiling would be interesting. More research needed.

The X-Files sequel is officially a go. Starts filming on December 10th and comes out on July ... 25th? I think. I can't wait!!

Going home in a week! Finals are next week, and then I'm home free til next quarter. One week hanging with the sister and one week baby sitting the cousin.

Finally, I have a date for the College of Science Winter Gala. Wyatt (guy in a few of my classes) asked me to go with him today. I'm pretty happy about it. We went to a hockey game last weekend, and had a lot of fun. The only downside is that I have to buy a dress. Damn semiformalness.

That's basically everything. Internet keeps copping out. You'd think that wouldn't happen with the T3 line directly plugged into the computer.

So, I just finished watching Gillian Anderson's new movie Straightheads (Closure in America) and it is seriously one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen. I honestly don't know if I really liked it, or if I just know that it succeeded in absolutely horrifying me.

Basic Plot: The movie is all about these two people Alice and Adam. Alice is a business woman (not sure what business) in London, very wealthy. Adam is the 23 year old guy that's installing her security system. She brings him to a party, and on the way home he gets the shit beat out of him and she gets raped (let the fun begin). The rest of the movie is her reaction to the incident, and them plotting/eventually exacting their revenge.

My Review: Like I said, this is a thoroughly disturbing film, and should be watched with discretion. If you are squeamish about rape or violence I wouldn't suggest it. I also wouldn't suggest this film if you are uncomfortable with sex scenes, because that is something that there is no shortage of (I have officially seen more of Gillian Anderson than I was ever expecting).

I was a little let down by the writing. It seemed like he wasn't quite sure which parts of the story to spend the most time on, and wound up spending too much time on unnecessary plot points, and not enough on others. Certain parts seem like they skip around too much, while others linger when they should just happen and be done with.

The directing was fine. Not the best I've ever seen, but certainly notable. Some scenes could have been shot better, but on the whole it was well done.

The acting was the one thing in this film that made it wholly worth the time. Gillian Anderson is absolutely fantastic in this role, showing with frightening believability what her character is going through and feeling after such an ordeal. Danny Dyer also does a great job as Adam, though hid character development was a bit choppy (more a writing flaw than anything).

All in all I would say its worth watching if you want to be freaked out of your mind. I think that women will have a much more noticeable reaction, since it seems to deal more with her need for revenge than his. But hey, I'm a woman, so I can't really judge for the men.

Okay, so its not my best review, but its 4 in the morning and I'm still all muddled from the movie.

I finally fixed up my sleep schedule so I wouldn't be nocturnal anymore, and what do I do but go to Jason's for 8 hours of movies. We watched Pitch Black, Thirteen Ghosts, Scream, and Scary Movie. Fun times. But now its 6 in the morning and if I go to sleep now there goes my sleep schedule. Gonna try to stay up til tomorrow night to fix it so I'm all rested for my Physics test. Can't fail that. Ooooooh no.

Bleh. I guess I'll go back to watching all the season finales and premieres of the X-Files. Think I might stick the movie in there too. We'll see.

Woooooo! I finished yesterday morning actually, but didn't update. Such a good series, and I really liked how it ended. I hope they actually make the second movie.

My abdomen hurts. Not a lot, but enough to be annoying. I keep meaning to get it looked at, but I get back to my room and fall asleep for a long period of time and then the Student Health Center is closed so I can't. As long as it doesn't get any worse, I'm good.

I'm starting the "Scully gets captured by this week's bad guy and Mulder has to save her" marathon. I think I'll start with ... Irresistable.

Oh, and they really did an amazing job masking Gillian Anderson's pregnancy in the beginning of Season 2. I never would have guessed.

I'm 4 short episodes away from the end of the X-Files. Damn. 9 Seasons. I have no life, but its sooooo good. I'll admit it was better pre-movie, but there is plenty of good stuff in the later seasons.

Proof positive: Most heartbreaking episode so far was "William" which I just finished. I cried. Oh my god, did I cry. Poor Scully.

Only three eps left til Mulder!! Wooooooooooo ... ::falls::

Welcome to the nocturnal life. Today is my easy day, just two classes and over by 11 so I've only gotta make it for another 3 1/2 hours. Just watched the X-Files ep with Cher. SOooooooo cheesy, but it has a cute Mulder/Scully dance moment, and its all in black and white. Gonna jump in the shower and get ready for class. Just thought I'd update because my nocturnal existence doesnt allow me to laugh out loud at the ridiculous eps.

Is it sad that an album has been out for not even 4 hours and I've already purchased it? See? Now I didn't think so either. To enlighten those of you that cannot read my mind, LeAnn Rimes (my favorite singer of all time) has released her newest album (first in a couple years I think) today, and I bought it off iTunes at 3:30 this morning, and Oh my god its amazing! I absolutely loooooooove her. So much. I can't even fathom why she didn't write her own music earlier in her career because its just gotten better over the years. Plus, there's an incomprehensively good duet with Bon Jovi on here, which he asked her to perform with him, and which I saw on a whim at like 1 in the morning a few months back on CMT. But yeah, Family, the new album, is made of so much awesome. I'm like freaking, but that could have something to do with the fact that I've been watching the X-Files basically non-stop for several days now, and this is the first non X-Files related media I've had in my head in that time period.

Anywho, I'm gonna listen a little longer, and then get back to the X Files. I'm so not even that tired right now, and officially too wired to sleep. I just bought this cd for one, and Scully just found out she has cancer. I'm dying. I leave you with my favorite song off this album, and one that every girl can relate to. No matter who you are.

Its 2 am and I cannot sleep. I am fully exhausted to a point of annoyance, but its really hot up here. Its been in the 90s the past couple days and that is far too hot to sleep well. The fans are going but they seem to just be circulating allergens, so I can't breathe, thus furthering the "I can't sleep" notion.

I have class in 7 hours.

I have to get up in 5 1/2.

Please kill me.

On the bright side, I've downloaded most of the X Files, including the movie. I am happy.
